A recent survey reveals why Asian tourists flock to Vietnam: stunning landscapes, rich culture, safety, and affordability make it a top choice Vietnam has emerged as a beloved destination for Asian tourists, thanks to its safety, affordability, and breathtaking natural landscapes, according to a recent survey by consulting firm Outbox Company. The survey, which polled 2,700 tourists from various Asian countries who visited Vietnam in the first half of this year, highlights the factors that make the country a top travel choice.
Over 52% of respondents cited Vietnam's natural beauty as the primary reason for their visit. The stunning scenery, including the iconic limestone karsts of Ha Long Bay, the terraced rice fields of Sa Pa, and the picturesque beaches of Nha Trang and Da Nang, captivated many tourists.
Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage also plays a significant role in its appeal. Approximately 45.2% of visitors were drawn to the country’s diverse cultural offerings. Tourists enjoyed engaging in cultural activities with locals and sampling traditional Vietnamese cuisine, which they considered highlights of their journey.
Safety was another key factor, with 40.7% of respondents viewing Vietnam as a secure destination. The lower crime rate compared to many other Southeast Asian countries, combined with the country’s overall welcoming atmosphere, contributed to a reassuring travel experience. This is supported by Vietnam's ranking of 41st out of 163 countries and territories in the 2023 Global Peace Index.
Affordability also made Vietnam an attractive choice, with 40.3% of tourists noting its low costs as a crucial aspect of their trip. The country's peaceful ambiance and slower pace of life, particularly in its rural areas and smaller cities, were appreciated by 35.8% of visitors.
In the first seven months of this year, Vietnam welcomed nearly 10 million foreign visitors, with 70% coming from Asian countries, including South Korea, mainland China, and Taiwan. This influx underscores Vietnam's growing popularity as a destination that offers both enriching experiences and a high level of comfort and security.
