Roasted pork bánh mì has been voted the best dish in Vietnam.

According to the “Top 100 Vietnamese Dishes” ranking published by the international culinary platform TasteAtlas as of January 19, roasted pork bánh mì outperformed many other familiar dishes to claim first place.

TasteAtlas stated that the ranking is based on reviews from real users around the world. This edition recorded a total of 8,562 reviews, of which 5,591 were verified by the system as valid and credible.

TasteAtlas describes roasted pork bánh mì as a combination of two widely loved ingredients: the traditional crispy baguette and crispy-skinned roasted pork belly. The culinary platform considers roasted pork bánh mì a remarkable variation of Vietnamese bánh mì, offering a more diverse experience compared to the usual cold-cut fillings.

The highlight of the dish lies in the pork belly, with its crispy skin while the meat underneath remains tender and juicy. The “soul” of the sandwich is its sauce, made from pork broth seasoned with local spices. Additional components such as pickled vegetables, cilantro, cucumber, and fresh chili help balance the flavors, preventing any greasy feeling for diners.

TasteAtlas experts believe that the dish’s top ranking reflects a global trend of interest in foods that combine sophisticated cooking techniques with the convenience of street cuisine.
