Vietnam Sees Strong Growth in Foreign Tourist Arrivals, Reaches 11.4 Million

Vietnam's foreign tourist arrivals surged to 11.4M in 2024, a 45.8% increase from last year, highlighting a robust recovery in tourism

Vietnam has celebrated a remarkable boost in foreign tourist arrivals this year, with the number reaching 11.4 million in the first eight months. This represents a significant increase of 45.8% compared to the same period last year and surpasses pre-Covid numbers by 1%. This surge reflects a robust recovery and growing global interest in Vietnam as a travel destination.

Leading this positive trend are tourists from South Korea, who remain the largest group with over three million arrivals. China follows with 2.4 million visitors, while Taiwan, the U.S., and Japan contribute 849,000, 529,000, and 460,938 visitors, respectively. The top 10 sources of visitors also include Australia (314,000), Malaysia (313,000), India (311,000), Cambodia (294,000), and Thailand (274,000).

Vietnam’s proactive measures to enhance its tourism sector are paying off. The country currently waives visas for nationals from 25 countries and aims to attract a total of 18 million visitors by the end of the year. To achieve this ambitious goal, Vietnam is working diligently to welcome an additional seven million tourists.

This surge in tourist arrivals highlights Vietnam's growing appeal as a top travel destination and underscores the country’s successful strategies in revitalizing its tourism industry.
