Authorities on Phu Quoc Island have established a tourism rapid response team to better protect visitors and address service-related concerns amid the local tourism boom.
The team operates around the clock to receive tourist feedback, respond promptly to incidents and assist visitors with resolving issues related to pricing, service quality and safety, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.
It also provides guidance on legal procedures, supports efforts to recover lost belongings and delivers basic first aid in emergency situations.
Tran Minh Khoa, chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quoc, said there have been challenges in recent times like last-minute room cancellations by accommodation facilities and price hikes by service owners, Voice of Vietnam reported.
These have affected the island's reputation and caused inconvenience for tourists, he added.
Phu Quoc received 366,000 visitors during the nine-day Tet holiday break from Feb. 14-21, up 30% from last year.
The Vietnam's largest island expects to receive 8.5 million tourists this year, up 5% from last year, including two million foreigners, an 11% increase.
