Malaysia Airlines launches its first direct route from Kuala Lumpur to Da Nang, operating daily flights to boost tourism between Malaysia and Vietnam.
Malaysia Airlines has officially launched its first direct flight connecting Kuala Lumpur to Da Nang, with Flight MH748 landing at Da Nang International Airport on Tuesday. The inaugural flight carried 160 passengers, marking the airline’s entry into the central Vietnamese city with a new route that will operate seven times per week.
This new daily route will significantly increase travel between the two cities, raising the total number of weekly flights between Da Nang and Kuala Lumpur to 28. The enhanced connectivity is expected to boost tourism and economic exchange between Vietnam and Malaysia.
Strategic Move to Boost Da Nang Tourism
Tan Van Vuong, deputy director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, emphasized the importance of Malaysia as a key tourism market for the city, consistently ranking among the top 10 sources of international visitors. He noted that this route opens new doors for Malaysian tourists and further strengthens the city's tourism offerings.
"Last month, Da Nang's leadership visited Malaysia to meet with Malaysia Airlines representatives to promote the city's tourism and the Kuala Lumpur-Da Nang route," said Vuong. The collaboration marks a significant step forward in Da Nang’s strategic efforts to attract international travelers.
Joint Initiatives to Promote Da Nang
In line with the route launch, Da Nang's tourism department will work closely with Malaysia Airlines on various initiatives to promote the city. This includes organizing familiarization trips (Famtrips), press tours, and inviting key opinion leaders (KOLs) to showcase the city's unique tourism attractions to Malaysian audiences.
Through these collaborative efforts, Vuong hopes to position Da Nang as a preferred destination for Malaysian travelers.
Expanding Da Nang’s Global Reach
Malaysia Airlines, with its extensive flight network across Asia, Europe, and Oceania, covering nearly 1,000 destinations in over 170 countries and territories, will play a pivotal role in expanding Da Nang’s tourism reach. The airline is expected to serve as a vital link, not only for Malaysian tourists but also for connecting Da Nang with a broader international audience.
As Da Nang continues to develop its tourism infrastructure and offerings, the new route will provide opportunities to showcase the city's natural beauty, culture, and hospitality to a growing number of international visitors.
