Go back
The 5-star Italian cruise ship Costa Serena arrives in Ha Long Bay with 3,500 passengers, showcasing the bay’s allure as a top luxury travel destination in Vietnam.
On September 30, 2024, the 5-star Italian cruise ship Costa Serena arrived at Ha Long International Port, bringing nearly 3,500 tourists, primarily from Hong Kong (China), and over 1,000 crew members. The luxury vessel docked at 8:00 a.m., marking its first-ever visit to the world-renowned Ha Long Bay.

Exploring Ha Long Bay
During their one-day stay, the passengers will split into several groups to explore Ha Long Bay and the surrounding city. Known for its stunning limestone karsts and emerald waters, Ha Long Bay has long been a favorite destination for international travelers. Tourists will have the chance to experience the bay's iconic beauty through boat tours and visits to nearby attractions.

A Familiar Visitor to Vietnam
While Costa Serena has docked in Vietnam multiple times, this marks its first stop in Ha Long. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the ship regularly brought international tourists to Vietnamese hotspots like Phu Quoc. After a hiatus during the pandemic, Costa Serena resumed its journeys to Vietnam in 2023, with notable visits to Phu Quoc in May and February, carrying thousands of tourists on Southeast Asian itineraries.

About Costa Serena
Owned by Costa Cruises (Italy), Costa Serena is one of the largest cruise ships in the world, known for its voyages across Asia, particularly Southeast Asia. The ship measures 290.2 meters in length and 35.5 meters in width, offering a wide array of high-class amenities. These include swimming pools, luxury restaurants, a water park, gym facilities, and various entertainment areas for both children and adults.

In addition to its resort-style services, the ship features an impressive theatre that hosts entertainment programs with performances from professional artists, ensuring passengers have a memorable and engaging experience onboard.

A Boost to Ha Long’s Tourism
The arrival of Costa Serena in Ha Long Bay highlights the growing appeal of this UNESCO World Heritage site among luxury cruise travelers. The ship’s visit is part of a broader trend of international cruise liners returning to Vietnam post-pandemic, contributing to the country’s tourism recovery and bringing global attention to its stunning coastal destinations.
