Ho Chi Minh City has launched free walking tours, offering both locals and international visitors an opportunity to explore the southern metropolis on foot. The tours, which debuted on July 22, provide a unique blend of historical and modern experiences, highlighting the city’s rich cultural heritage.

Running daily from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the tours start at 3-5 Nguyen Hue Street in District 1, with guides leading participants through some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Key stops include Nguyen Hue walking street, the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera, and the famed Central Post Office.

One of the tour’s highlights is a visit to the Independence Palace, also known as the Reunification Palace, a significant symbol of Vietnam’s history. Tourists will also have the chance to explore Ben Thanh Market, a bustling spot for shopping and dining, where they can experience the local cuisine and vibrant market life.

Ho Chi Minh City, which welcomed 2.68 million visitors in the first half of 2024, is targeting an ambitious goal of six million international tourists by the end of the year. The introduction of free walking tours is part of the city’s efforts to enhance its appeal and provide accessible experiences for all travelers.
