Hanoi targets 7M international tourists by 2025, aiming for sustainable growth with diverse tourism products and modern infrastructure
Hanoi's tourism industry has set ambitious goals for 2025, targeting over 30 million visitors, including 7 million international arrivals, and generating more than VND 130 trillion (over $5 billion) in revenue.
Under the city's development plan, the tourism sector is expected to contribute over 8% to Hanoi's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), with hotel occupancy rates exceeding 60%.
During the 2024-2025 period, Hanoi will focus on sustainable and efficient tourism development, positioning itself as the gateway to tourism in northern Vietnam and the country as a whole, while maintaining its reputation as a safe, friendly, and high-quality destination.
The city is implementing various strategies to boost the industry's recovery and growth. These include creating professional and attractive tourism products with potential for significant development, such as cultural tourism, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism, agricultural-rural tourism, recreational sports tourism, eco-tourism, resort tourism, wellness tourism, and golf tourism.
Efforts are being made to attract international tourists to Hanoi, with a focus on key markets like Northeast Asia, ASEAN, the European Union, and the United States, while also exploring emerging markets such as India, the Middle East, Australia, and Eastern Europe.
Hanoi’s tourism sector will also devise comprehensive promotion plans across domestic and international media, television channels, digital platforms, and social networks. Promotion programs will be tailored to both key and potential markets.
The city plans to invest in modern and professional tourism infrastructure, with a focus on key development projects in Ba Vi, Huong Son - Quan Son, and Dong Mo Lake. Additionally, efforts will be made to enhance the quality of tourist destinations and develop tourism products that highlight the city's historical, cultural, and heritage values.
