Introduction
Situated in the heart of the province, the Bac Ha market no doubt is the most colorful and largest market in Lao Cai province. Each Sunday morning, the ethnic Vietnamese who live in surroundings gather to trade and sell all kinds of products such as food, handicrafts, tools, animals, It is also the time that the locals can eat and chat together as well. If tourists want to gain a local perspective on the rural living of ethnic minorities, the Bac Ha market will definitely highlight your vacation in Vietnam.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Hanoi – Night Train to Lao Cai
Day 2: Lao Cai – Bac Ha Market – Sapa(B,L)
Day 3: Sapa – Rice Terraces – Ham Rong Mountain(B,L,D)
Day 4: Sapa – Hanoi(B)

Day 1: Hanoi – Night Train to Lao Cai

In the evening, you will be picked up at the lobby of the hotel in Hanoi then transfer to Hanoi Railways station for night train to Sapa. Overnight on train

Day 2: Lao Cai – Bac Ha Market – Sapa (B, L)

In the early morning, arrive at Lao Cai Railways station, After having breakfast at a local restaurant. Then start our drive to Bac Ha town and begin your journey up to Bac Ha. The market located in the heart of Bac Ha town is the largest one in the area.
Every Sunday, the different and colorful ethnic minorities come all here to sell their homemade products or buy something for the family. They are Hmong, Phu La, Black Dzao, Tay or Nung minorities. Some of these ethnic minorities can’t be met in any other areas. Your lunch will be provided at a local restaurant. Transfer to Sapa in the afternoon. Overnight in Sapa.

Day 3: Sapa – Rice Terraces – Ham Rong Mountain (B,L,D)

After breakfast at the hotel, start your journey by traveling south toward Muong Hoa valley and walk by descending into the valley, which is the largest rice paddy terraced in the Sapa area. The guide will provide you interesting information about rice. If you visit the valley sometime between May and October, you will be able to observe and experience how the locals do planting and harvesting, one of the most important activities in daily life.
Later, trek from Lao Chai village of Black Hmong minority to Ta Van village of Giay minority including a visit to the local Catholic Church. After that, climb up to Ham Rong mountain to get a panorama of Sapa – the city in the cloud. In the afternoon, transfer back to Sapa for overnight

Day 4: Sapa – Hanoi (B)

After breakfast, get on the vehicle and transfer back to Hanoi. Trip ends.

Children Policy

  • The rate for children applicable for one child sharing a twin or double cabin with two adults
  • For infant (<04 years old): FOC except domestic ticket cost
  • 04 - 11 years old without bed: 50% adult rate
  • 04 - 11 years old with extra bed: 75% adult rate
  • 04 - 11 years old in twin share: 90% adult rate

Thing to bring:
Warm clothes, scarf, hat, cap because the weather in sapa is pretty unpredictable. It is normally cold in September, October, November, December , January, February and March .
Due to altitude of Sapa. It is sometimes foggy in December, January , February and March. 
Trekking shoes, sun glasses, sun cream, insect repellent are also necessary. You should take cash with you in vietnam Dong because banking system in Sapa sometimes does not function well. Us Dollar, Euro, Australian Dolla are accepted in Sapa.
You shoule take medicine with you although there are some chemist’s shops in Sapa in case you get sick. Homestay’s facilities are not as in hotel in Sapa.

 

Trekking and Hiking in Sapa
Trekking is the main activity in Sapa. Trekking maps are available from the Tourist Information centre on Fansipan Street. These maps are invaluable if you want to trek around the area without a guide. They show the walking trails and trekking routes around town. Most hotels in Sapa offer tourists guided half-day and day long treks, but the best places to inquire about these treks are the travel agency, please contact Vietnam Exploration Booking if you need more information!
While it is possible to go hiking around Sapa on your own, it's better to have the assistance of a guide to guarantee a more enriching experience. When it comes to longer treks or overnight stays in the villages, the knowledge of a local will come in handy.
Regardless of being on a walking tour or not, tribal women will walk with you and try to assist you in any possible way hoping for a tip. 
Tourists who want to learn something new can go on community-based tours to Sin Chai, a Hmong village. On most tours, overnight stays are arranged so travellers can learn about textiles, or tribal music and dance.
